Partial Day Mental Health Treatment in Los Angeles

Partial Hospitalization Program

Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient treatment is the most demanding approach to treatment, with 24-hour supervision. Patients live at the facility full time and follow strict schedules during their time in treatment. For mental health conditions, inpatient treatment usually is reserved for those with severe symptoms or who may pose a danger to themselves or others.

Partial Hospitalization

Partial hospitalization is a tier below inpatient. For most people seeking treatment for mental health, partial hospitalization programs may be the highest level of treatment to start with. With a partial hospitalization program, you are able to return home each night, but treatment still takes up most of your day. The schedule is often more demanding than traditional outpatient treatment, and it helps you learn strategies to cope with anxiety, depression, or other negative feelings.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment is a tier below both of these. Patients live at home full time and have their independence without any supervision. They attend sessions that may be daily or a few times each week, but the length of these sessions is progressively lowered as progress is made.

A Los Angeles mental health PHP, or partial hospital program, is a level of care that helps individuals develop a daily routine and transition from a full-time inpatient program. PHP programs for mental health are more intense than outpatient programs; patients get to spend time at a Los Angeles PHP center for a full day of therapy while returning home each night.

Our partial hospitalization program combines the intensive treatment of a residential program without residing at the facility 24/7, allowing for a hybrid treatment experience.

The intensive outpatient program at Satori Health gives our clients the freedom and flexibility that they want while also providing them with the support they need.

The outpatient program at Satori Health is when our clients begin to join the skills they are learning at our program with the challenges they meet in every day life.

PHP can be used for a range of mental health disorders, for anyone who doesn’t require 24-hour supervision but still needs treatment, including:

  1. Depression
  2. Anxiety
  3. Bipolar Disorder
  4. PTSD
  5. Mood Disorders
  6. Other mental health issues

Transition from Inpatient to Outpatient

Partial hospitalization programs are designed to help you transition both from an inpatient program and to an outpatient program. Inpatient programs differ significantly in that they provide 24-hour supervision, so you live at the facility and attend your treatment classes full time, receive all your meals at the facility, and sleep there.

Partial hospitalization programs allow you to return to full-time independent living as you manage your transition and apply things like stress management skills and coping skills learned during an inpatient program. Similarly, these programs let you prepare for a less intense outpatient plan where you might only have between 10 and 20 hours per week of treatment.

Lower Cost

Partial hospitalization mental health programs are generally less expensive than inpatient treatment programs. Additionally, most insurance companies provide coverage for mental health issues. As such, your health insurance plan should cover some, if not all, of your partial hospitalization program for mental health.

Flexible Schedule

When you start a Los Angeles Mental Health PHP program, you have a more flexible schedule. You might still participate in a full-time set of therapy and holistic treatment programs, but you can choose to do so for five or six hours per day at the beginning of the day, freeing up your evenings or vice versa.

During the initial assessment, you will meet with a member of our staff who goes over the program with you. They will ask questions about your physical and mental health history, as well as your stressors and symptoms. This all helps determine which PHP is best.

You may or may not begin on the day of your assessment. Regardless of when you start, you can expect to attend a full day of treatment.

PHP treatment is a full-time program, so you can expect to meet daily during the week for four to seven hours, depending on the program. During that time, you will meet for individual therapy, group therapy, and regular medication management sessions.

It is important to note that, as with anything new, it will take time to feel completely comfortable with the program. So, it’s up to you to know the limits of your mental health and share things at a pace with which you are comfortable. It is up to you to use things like healthy coping strategies if necessary (using a stress ball, taking breaks, coloring while talking).
